Toyota Safety Sense

New Toyota Inventory

On today’s busy roads, there’s a lot you may have to react to in order to stay safe. Luckily, Toyota offers drivers the Toyota Safety Sense™ suite, featuring a wealth of active safety features.

To show Scranton, Lackawanna County, and Wilkes-Barre drivers what they can find with this suite, Toyota of Scranton has compiled this full guide. Read on to learn more about the capabilities offered by this set of safety systems.

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection

When designing the Toyota Safety Sense™ system, Toyota focused on preparing your car for common accidents. The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection helps to mitigate collisions by applying the brakes when you’re coming too close to a vehicle ahead.

Not only does this system work to prevent accidents with other vehicles, it will even look out for pedestrians as well. If your vehicle is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 system, your pedestrian detection can extend to people riding on bikes.

Lane Departure Alert

It’s not always easy to be fully aware of our physical presence when on the road. To help keep you informed of unintended lane changes, there’s a Lane Departure Alert feature.

When you begin to move away from your lane, your vehicle will alert you so that you can correct your steering as soon as possible.

Automatic High Beams

In order to keep you and other drivers as safe as possible, there are Automatic High Beams. This system uses a camera that detects when other cars are coming at night so that your vehicle can deactivate your high beams automatically for them.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

In order to make your highway drives even more easygoing, you can make use of the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control feature. This advanced cruise control system allows you to set a target speed to maintain as well as a set distance to stay behind other cars.

If your vehicle reaches another driver who’s traveling slower than you, your vehicle will slow to maintain your set distance behind them. If they move out of the way, your car will speed back up to your target speed.

Lane Tracing Assist

When you’re using the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system, drivers equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 system will also be equipped with a Lane Tracing Assist.

This feature works to guide your steering so you’re between the lane markers—ultimately reducing need for driver input. This is a great way to prevent driver fatigue when traveling over long distances.

Road Sign Assist

To make sure you’re aware of important road signs, the Road Sign Assist system will detect signs and show them on your Multi-Information Display. This system is equipped to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs, and yield signs.
