As a Service Writer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling service appointments
  • Greet customers in a timely and friendly manner as they drop off vehicles
  • Obtaining vehicle information
  • Visual vehicle inspection and walk around with the customer noting any damage and service requests
  • Create complete and accurate repair order regarding issues, problems, or maintenance needed
  • Verifying service history with customer
  • Reinforce the value of regular care and proper maintenance with customer
  • Provide customer with written cost estimate
  • Obtain a customer signature to authorize service
  • Provide customer with a copy of the signed service order
  • Confirm customer’s preferred method of payment
  • Obtain credit approval if necessary
  • Monitor vehicle status during the day
  • Update the customer of any additional work needed and the cost and get verbal approval
  • Review work order and verify all work is completed
  • Close repair order
  • Ensure that vehicle is parked in assigned area, is locked, and keys are marked and secured
  • Explain completed work and cost of work to the customer
  • Discuss the factory survey the customer will receive
  • Inquire about scheduling future service work
  • Ensure customer is satisfied with the entire service experience
  • Manages repair order documentation to ensure full compliance with TMS, CAT, and TSS policies and procedures
  • Achieves individual and team CSI scores above the minimum “GREEN” standards in all categories
  • Maintains 100% utilization of required Multi-Point Inspection (Walk Around) process.
  • Achieves and maintains individual and team effective labor rate (ELR) above 80% of posted retail
  • Maintains a professional appearance and work environment.
  • Attends applicable and mandatory company-wide training
  • Complete other tasks as requested
