Toyota Tire Services in Scranton, PA

Your tires are the only connection between your vehicle and the road. They are also a crucial part of the suspension system as well. Even though tires can be maintained easily, they can often be overlooked too. Tire maintenance is vital to your safety and the safety of your passengers. Proper maintenance can also reduce rolling resistance and provide proper traction on the road. Here at Toyota of Scranton, keeping you safe is our highest priority. That is why our service department has only factory-trained technicians who are ready to provide you with the best tire maintenance around.

When Should You Get New Tires?

Tire manufacturers recommend replacing your tires every 10 years, while vehicle manufacturers recommend that they be replaced every six. Ultimately it is also a good idea to check the manufacturer’s recommendations on your specific tires and make a decision based on the amount you have driven in your current tires and the condition of your tires. Your vehicle could respond poorly in weather conditions like rain or snow if your tires are worn. At our service center, we offer major tire brands in a large variety of sizes, and for any road conditions.

Balancing Your Tires

Our professional service technicians use computerized wheel balancers that allow them to pinpoint the weight difference within a tire. Both the wheel and tire should maintain an equal amount of weight throughout the assembly. Your tires may need to be rebalanced if you experience any of the following:

  • Vibrations throughout your vehicle
  • Squeals from your tires
  • Your vehicle pulls to one side
  • Faster tread wear

When your tires and wheels are properly balanced, you will notice that you ride smoother, and you have more control over your Toyota.

Tire Repairs

Repairs on your tires should be performed as needed, and by professionals to help ensure safe vehicle operation. Before the tire itself can be repaired it must be removed from the wheel and the rim, which will allow for a thorough inspection of the inner and outer walls. A punctured tire can be repaired if the puncture is ¼ inch or small and is located on the thread of the tire, as stated by the RMA. The repair involves a plug and patch along the lining of the tire.

Tire Rotations

A tire rotation service involves changing the position of a vehicle’s tires in order to reduce tread differentiation between all the tires. Tire rotations are an effective way to manage uneven tread wear on all of your tires. The rotation varies depending on the type of vehicle, and the type of tires used on that vehicle. Professional and routine tire rotations can not only improve gas mileage, but also extend the life of your tires. Most manufacturers recommend rotating your tires at about 7,500 miles or every six months, to get the most out of your tires.
