Car Seat Safety Checks

Toyota of Scranton helps all of our local drivers to keep their little ones safe with our Car Seat Safety Check event. With the help of the Lackawanna County Police Department and representatives of the Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP), our dealership was proud to participate in an event to help parents maintain and install their child seat’s safely and securely. With the holidays just around the corner, we had help from Santa Claus himself, as well as his helper Jovie the Elf. Educating our drivers will help make for a safer drive no matter the destination.

At our event, we hosted certified car seat safety technicians, who receive a national certification to guide you in correctly installing your car seat. The technicians also help select a proper child seat size, discuss when to move up a size of car seat, and so much more. Certified car seat safety technicians can also help fill you in on local and state laws regarding child restraints, as well as answering any and all questions you may have about your child’s safety seat.

Helping our local drivers feel confident in their ability to install a car seat is the first step in helping save lives. Nearly a third of fatalities of children under the age of thirteen are not properly secured in their seatbelt or car seat. Car seats can reduce the amount of injuries of infants, toddlers, and children drastically when installed and used correctly. Different age groups require different child seats, which range from forward-facing carseats with a full harness to simple booster seats until your child is big enough to fit properly into a seatbelt.

Toyota of Scranton thanks all of the organizations involved, including the Lackawanna County Police Department, the Traffic Injury Prevention Project, and the Lackawanna County Highway Safety Program. The TIPP is a statewide organization that specializes in all-things driver safety, and covers not only car seat safety, but also bicycle, bus, pedestrian, young driver safety, and so much more. The Lackawanna County Highway Safety Program helps create awareness of current laws and regulations.
