The Hero’s Day Motorcycle Ride – Honoring Lyndon Sampang

Lyndon Sampang was a Sergeant in the United States Army who was severely injured while serving in Afghanistan. In Yosef Patika Province Afghanistan on March 18, 2010, Sgt. Sampang was the lead vehicle in a convoy when there was an ambush. Out of all the vehicles in the convoy, he was the only one to survive the ambush. The first time he woke up he realized he could not feel his leg, and when he woke up again his leg was gone from the knee down. He was also left with a traumatic brain injury as well leaving him pretty much disabled since his arrival back home from Afghanistan. Lyndon has been a passionate motorcyclist since his youth and has not been able to ride since his injury.

Hero’s Day

On Friday, October 8, 2021, at Toyota of Scranton, a generous donation and plaque were presented to Lyndon Sampang and VetStock America in gratitude and participation in The Hero’s Day Motorcycle Ride. More than 50 motorcyclists stopped at Toyota of Scranton in their route from Gettysburg to Pike County in honor of Sgt. Sampang. Stops were made along the way to businesses that support our Veterans, and at the end of the ride, Sergeant Lyndon Sampang was gifted with a customized motorcycle for disabled riders. This is the ultimate gift for someone who thought they would never ride again. The customized motorcycle will give Lyndon Sampang his freedom and happiness back, something he hasn’t been able to enjoy since the loss of his leg.

VetStock

VetStock America is a non-profit organization that was founded by two Vietnam Veterans with intentions to assist Veterans that have sustained injuries while on active duty. The organization has raised funds that have been used to support and better the lives of Veterans from all Army branches. Since 2012, VetStock has been securing relationships and fundraising events to help provide financial support for local disabled veterans, local veterans, and active duty military vets and their families. VetStock America helped to raise funds to provide Sgt. Lyndon Sampang with a customized motorcycle for disabled riders, to get him back on the road doing something he loves.

Patrick Rogers, CFO of Toyota of Scranton said, “Toyota of Scranton proudly supports many organizations that help and acknowledge our Veterans. When we heard about the great work being done by VetStock America we knew we wanted to be a part of it. We offered our financial support and acknowledgment to Sgt. Sampang to show our appreciation for the sacrifices he has made for our country.” Toyota of Scranton offers a military rebate program that offers a $750 rebate to eligible U.S. military personnel, and household members of eligible personnel. The rebate can be used toward any new Toyota vehicle leased or purchased through Toyota of Scranton. This military incentive program is available to U.S. personnel, household members, U.S. military retirees, and U.S. military veterans.
